Darren Ambrose says Crystal Palace think they have found someone who could be better than Michael Olise

Darren Ambrose has been speaking to his sources at Crystal Palace about Michael Olise – and has now made a very interesting claim.

The Crystal Palace No.7 is set to leave Selhurst Park for Bayern Munich after three seasons with the Eagles – in which he scored 16 goals and provided 25 assists across 90 appearances in all competitions.

A £55m fee will come our way – the value of the France U21 international’s release clause – and Darren Ambrose has now been told that Crystal Palace are quite confident about replacing Michael Olise

What Darren Ambrose said about Michael Olise

The man who made 124 appearances for Crystal Palace – scoring 37 goals – has now revealed that someone at Selhurst Park told him they think they’ve found someone who could be better than Olise in future.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Ambrose said: “Michael Olise looks to be on his way to Bayern Munich. I think that’s done. I did reach out to one of my sources – I am going to say sources – at Crystal Palace, who says they have a replacement in mind and potentially could be better than Michael Olise in the long run.”

Given how immensely talented the 22-year-old is, this is seriously exciting news, albeit unsurprising.

Dougie Freedman has consistently proven himself to have a remarkable eye for talent, so it wouldn’t even surprise us if the Glaswegian already knew who he wanted to replace Olise when we signed the winger in an £8m deal from Reading, back in July 2021.

Who the mystery man could be for Crystal Palace

Ambrose quite rightly chose not to name the player – if he had, our deal could have been hijacked.

In our view, the 40-year-old could have been speaking about Argentinian wonderkid Matias Soule, who is believed to be a target.

The South American – who plays for Juventus but spent last season on loan at Frosinone – is a similar profile to Olise in the way that he cuts inside from the right wing onto his stronger left foot, hence a comparison to Angel Di Maria, while he also boasts superb dribbling skills.

In fact, no player completed more successful dribbles than Soule’s 101 in Serie A last season – ranking ahead of the likes of Rafael Leao and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
