Crystal Palace’s January hunt to sign talented Argentine youngster Matias Soule was ultimately unsuccessful and now the reason behind that has been explained.
The January transfer window saw Crystal Palace strengthen in the midfield and also at right back, but they weren’t able to improve in one position.
The attack was also a priority for the Eagles with a failed deadline day pursuit of Maxwel Cornet much publicised.
Another name they were chasing – mainly in the build-up to the window – was the talented Argentine, Matias Soule, of Juventus – on loan with Frosinone currently.

Matias Soule rejected Crystal Palace
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Palace were rejected in January by the 20-year-old forward.
With a £26m move reported on in December, the deal never seemed possible in January. For one reason, Soule is on loan right now and thriving so he’d be silly to want a move.
The Angel Di Maria compared star probably made the right call in rejecting the move, although he’s a player who should be on Palace’s Michael Olise replacement list for the summer once there’s a little more certainty around the club.
Interestingly, the report mentions this as it suggests that the winger will decide on his next club in June with West Ham also an option in the Premier League for him.
How is Matias Soule doing this season?
Soule has been enjoying a special campaign for Frosinone as he’s currently sat as the Serie A’s fourth top goalscorer, beaten only by three established strikers.
To be a winger and have 10 goals and two assists at just 20 is an impressive tally and his list of suitors is likely to have grown if Palace are to try again in the summer.
With every goal he also becomes a more valuable player and therefore will cost Palace more than the £26m which was reported in January.
That being said he’s a special player and is definitely worth trying to sign once more.
