Alan Nixon has now shared a brief response when asked if Crystal Palace will even make one January signing.
The respected journalist replied to a fan on X (previously known as Twitter).

Crystal Palace aiming to be busy
Well, Nixon claimed that Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman do hope to complete at least one signing this month, with the duo currently “trying” to get a deal done.
He wrote: “Trying. Want to be active.”
You can forgive Crystal Palace fans for feeling sceptical about that message, as there has not been a great deal of January business at Selhurst Park in recent times.
Only Naouirou Ahamada was signed in January 2023 as far as permanent deals go – a player who has hardly featured since making that switch – while Albert Sambi Lokonga also arrived on loan.
Prior to that window, there was no business in January 2022 aside from the decision to turn Jean-Philippe Mateta’s loan deal into a permanent move.
At a time where Roy Hodgson desperately needs a number of positions to be bolstered, including the right-back and centre-forward departments, even one signing would not really be enough this month.
Arsenal No.14 Eddie Nketiah has been strongly linked, while Blackburn Rovers No.23 Adam Wharton is another player believed to be a target for Freedman.
Not as safe as we look
As things stand, Crystal Palace sit 14th in the Premier League – although that position is not as comfortable as it would initially seem.
Only six points separate us from the bottom three, and 17th placed Luton have a game in hand.
If the Hatters win that game in hand against Bournemouth, it would cut the gap to just three points.
Therefore, Parish should not rest on his laurels this month and feel that everything will be alright – at least one new signing is needed to give everybody a lift around Selhurst Park, and keep the players switched on, or else we could be in trouble.
