Manchester United are known to be looking at Crystal Palace players this summer, and now they’ve added yet another Eagles ace to their list.
Crystal Palace knew coming into this summer that it’d be tricky to keep the club’s star players with plenty of interest around the league.
Michael Olise was the first casualty as he departed for Bayern Munich earlier this month, sparking a hunt for a replacement this summer.
Expected to follow is interest in Ebere Eze and Marc Guehi from some of the Premier League‘s best clubs.
But now another name has been tipped as attracting some interest from Manchester United.
Manchester United eyeing up Adam Wharton
It’s little surprise that Palace players are attracting more interest than anyone else this summer, after the end of the 2023/24 season that the club had.
Adam Wharton’s rapid rise at Palace has left him a clear target for some of the league’s biggest and best clubs. This saw Manchester City linked over the weekend.
Now, it’s the other Manchester-based club who’ve shown their interest, with CaughtOffside reporting that Wharton is in the sights of Ineos and the Red Devils.
The Eagles’ 20-year-old was mighty impressive last season for Glasner’s side and that is what has caught the interest of United and he’s now on their shortlist for midfield additions. Wharton is seen by Ineos as a cheaper alternative to Joao Neves of Benfica.
Guehi has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with reports pre-Euros suggesting that an offer of player plus cash was expected to arrive, although since United have opted to make moves for Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.
No way Crystal Palace sell Adam Wharton this summer
Despite the links, which would obviously be tempting for Wharton, there is little chance he is leaving this summer.
Steve Parish sanctioned a £22m deal for him only in January so to lose him already would be awful, although it’d be for a serious profit.
Wharton will be a Palace player next summer – unless a ridiculous bid arrives – as he doesn’t have a release clause or anything included in his contract.
So Wharton to United likely has no immediate danger of happening, however, we imagine that summer 2025 will see a nationwide race to sign Wharton after another successful season at Selhurst Park.
