It feels likely that Crystal Palace will lose Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea this summer.
The Times believe the France international wants to leave Selhurst Park and move to Stamford Bridge, a decision he has already indicated to those in the boardroom, according to the report.
While that is disappointing, the Frenchman has served us well and can do as he pleases – just like Oliver Glasner after his controversial choice to take over at Nottingham Forest.
However, the infuriating detail of this saga involving Lacroix is the fee Crystal Palace are supposedly demanding.
How much is Maxence Lacroix worth? 🤔
The Frenchman still has three years left on his contract 📝
Earlier this week, we were livid to hear respected journalist Simon Phillips claim that Chelsea were last quoted £60m for the defender, but The Times now state that the figure is actually even lower.
Chelsea can apparently sign Maxence Lacroix for just £55m
A new story from The Times – a very reliable outlet – now claims that Crystal Palace have asked Chelsea to pay £55m for Lacroix.
As aforesaid, we even felt £60m was low considering Liverpool just spent that amount to sign the 20-year-old Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, while Brighton also just paid £46m for the 19-year-old Luka Vuskovic.
In that respect, we feel a seasoned, 26-year-old France international should be worth at least £70m in this market, but for whatever reason, Crystal Palace are said to be asking for just £55m.

That is despite the fact Lacroix has just broken into the France side and played a key role as Crystal Palace scoop up three trophies in the last 12 months, not to mention he also has three years remaining on his contract.
We should be demanding £70m.
What are YOUR thoughts on the new home kit? 🤔
I would prefer the sash not to have white gaps, but still quite happy with it 😍
If the fee fell down to around £55m or £60m during talks as Lacroix agitated for the move, then that would be one thing, but to start the price at £55m just feels downright baffling from Crystal Palace – if what The Times are claiming is actually true.
