Oliver Glasner appears to have convinced a target to join Crystal Palace – with the £30m Joachim Andersen fee now set to be reinvested.
It is a seriously important week for Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, with a lot of work required as Crystal Palace aim to strengthen the squad – after Andersen, Jordan Ayew and Michael Olise were sold.
Now, one target is close to joining Crystal Palace after Oliver Glasner stepped in…
Crystal Palace close to signing Eddie Nketiah after Oliver Glasner conversation
A story from Give Me Sport now claims that the Austrian was influential in convincing Eddie Nketiah to ignore Nottingham Forest and wait for Crystal Palace.
The England international was on the verge of moving to the City Ground from Arsenal, but it is said that Glasner asked the Arsenal No.14 to wait until Crystal Palace received an injection of cash from the £30m sale of Andersen to Fulham.
Nketiah agreed, and the 25-year-old is now close to joining Crystal Palace in a £30m move from Arsenal, according to the BBC.
The man from Lewisham is keen to leave Arsenal in search of regular playing time, after making just ten Premier League starts last season.
It was said that Nottingham Forest failed to agree personal terms with Nketiah – but that has not appeared to be an issue for Freedman, with a deal now close to materialising.
Eberechi Eze will be pleased
Eberechi Eze was presumably upset to see his close pal Olise depart Selhurst Park this summer, although he would surely be delighted if Nketiah joins him in SE25.
The pair are believed to be close friends – and are also both devout Christians – which will hopefully enable them to hit the ground running under Glasner.

In our view, Nketiah’s arrival could also see a slight formation change occur, with Glasner potentially switching to two central strikers with one No.10 in behind, rather than the current system of two attacking midfielders supporting one No.9 leading the line.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Crystal Palace could soon announce Nketiah.
