Selling both star centre-backs was not something we had expected Crystal Palace to do this summer.
But after agreeing a £30m fee for Joachim Andersen to join Fulham, one-half of the partnership which has defined the last few years at Selhurst Park is already gone.
This could soon be doubled, with Newcastle United still looking to bring Marc Guehi into the club this summer despite Crystal Palace receiving a £65m bid last week, which was soon rejected.
Now, it has been reported exactly how the Eagles are privately feeling about selling Guehi to Newcastle.

The possible exit of Guehi has been long discussed with Newcastle already seeing a handful of bids turned down for Crystal Palace’s star defender.
It has been reported that the Magpies are still in talks and hopeful of seeing a deal completed, with the sale of Andersen being a non-factor on Guehi’s future.
Now, Sky Sports’ Newcastle reporter Keith Downie has tweeted with some information about the deal.
He claims that Newcastle are continuing to edge closer to reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace, with there being cautious optimism that a deal will be agreed.
It is added that Crystal Palace are privately accepting that selling this summer would be beneficial, with Guehi’s value as high as it will ever be.

Steve Parish should cash in on Guehi
While losing Guehi on top of losing Andersen is far from ideal, it is absolutely the right thing to do for Crystal Palace considering how much is being offered.
Guehi is a phenomenal defender, but he is not irreplaceable – with Oliver Glasner showing already that last season when he used the likes of Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne at centre-half.
A fee of over £65m could give the Eagles funds to do quite a bit of business in the final week of the window, with new defenders, wingbacks and maybe even a midfielder on the list.
So with that in mind, hopefully, Steve Parish will let this deal go through and then we can think about where can be strengthened.
