As has been commonplace in recent years, Crystal Palace are looking towards the Championship for reinforcements.

It has already been revealed by Sky Sports that Crystal Palace are interested in Shea Charles at Southampton, a centre-midfielder also wanted by Leeds.

Now – according to AS – Crystal Palace are also considering a move for Southampton No.13 Leo Scienza after his impressive debut campaign in English football last term, following a £7.8m switch from Heidenheim in September 2025.

As Crystal Palace monitor the Brazilian, let’s take a closer look at what he could bring to Selhurst Park.

Meet Leo Scienza: Southampton’s 2025/26 Player of the Season

Scienza arrived on the south coast to little fanfare having experienced a fairly nomadic career, which has seen him play in Brazil, Uruguay, Sweden, Germany and England by the age of 27.

However, the South American was superb for the Saints in an attacking midfield role last season, scoring seven goals and also providing ten assists in 44 appearances.

The 27-year-old was named Player of the Season at Southampton by both the fans and his teammates as a result of his fine performances.

Scienza memorably caused Ben White all sorts of problems in the FA Cup quarter-final as Southampton recorded a 2-1 win over Arsenal at St Mary’s, a match in which the aforementioned Charles netted the winning goal.

It strongly suggested both Scienza and Charles would be able to compete in the Premier League, considering Arsenal were Premier League champions elect at the time of that defeat.

While the Southampton No.13 typically cut inside from the left last season – his preferred position throughout his career – the Brazilian can also play centrally or on the right flank.

AS did not mention a price tag, but considering Scienza only recently arrived at Southampton – who want Justin Devenny – and has a contract running until July 2029, we presume a deal would cost at least £30m.
