Who is Mylo Bernard? Arsenal ‘pushing hard’ to take Thierry Henry 2.0 from Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have struggled to keep their best academy prospects at Selhurst Park in recent years.

Shaun Derry’s son Jesse Derry left for Chelsea after opting against signing a contract with the Eagles, while Crystal Palace lost Reggie Watson – son of Ben Watson – to the west Londoners as well.

Samuel Lusale also walked away from Selhurst Park to sign for Manchester United.

Now, Crystal Palace are in danger of losing another top talent in Mylo Bernard as Arsenal attempt to sign the 16-year-old striker.

The Secret Scout now claims on X (previously known as Twitter) that Arsenal are ‘pushing hard’ to sign the teenager after his contract expired at Crystal Palace.

However, the Eagles have offered Bernard an improved deal and are awaiting a response.

It would be a huge blow for the UEFA Conference League winners if the England U16 international did choose to walk away.

It can be hard to find reliable statistics at youth level, but Rising Ballers are often on the money, and claimed that Bernard had remarkably netted 42 goals last season as early as March – also providing nine assists.

Such incredible numbers led Lucca Benetton – another top talent at Crystal Palace – to compare Bernard to Thierry Henry.

When responding to footage of the Arsenal target scoring a clinical hat-trick last season, the young goalkeeper wrote on Instagram: “It’s Thierry Henry now from what I can see, not Mbappe 😂 👏”

Hopefully, the appointment of Pierre Sage as manager will be enough to show Bernard that he has a realistic pathway into the first-team.

Sage is not afraid to use young players, and even handed Mezian Mesloub his debut in Ligue 1 last season for RC Lens at the age of just 16.

Initial thoughts on Pierre Sage? 🤔

He can boast a 67.5% win ratio from 40 games at RC Lens 😍

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Arsenal attempt to lure Bernard from south London to north London.
