Crystal Palace close to Adam Wharton agreement
Well – according to Bayes – Crystal Palace and Blackburn are now close to striking an agreement for the England U20 international.
The BBC Sport journalist adds that Wharton will travel to London today – where he will presumably discuss contract details with Crystal Palace, and even potentially undergo a medical.
Bayes wrote: “I understand that Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace are close to an agreement for Adam Wharton. He will travel to London today.”
Since this initial report emerged, Craig Hope of the Daily Mail has indeed confirmed that the Blackburn No.23 will undergo a medical with the Eagles.
It comes after Alan Nixon claimed that Crystal Palace had increased an initial £18.5m bid for the 19-year-old to a sum of £22m.
That figure is much closer to Blackburn’s £25m asking price, and it appears a compromise has now been struck as the teenager makes his way to London.
Who is Adam Wharton?
Given the fact Wharton is just 19 years of age and has never played in the Premier League before, some fans may not know much about him.
