Crystal Palace must make changes this weekend against Liverpool if Roy Hodgson is to keep his job, here’s our preferred line-up.
Roy Hodgson may be out of ideas at Crystal Palace amid a horrendous run of form which has seen fans begin to suggest his departure is inevitable.
Following the 2-0 loss to Bournemouth, Hodgson only made things worse as he claimed Palace fans had been ‘spoilt’ recently at home.
This a bizarre comment considering Palace hasn’t won a game at home since September 3rd.
So ahead of Saturday’s game against Liverpool, we thought we would look at our preferred line-up to face the Reds, considering Hodgson is unlikely to change…
Crystal Palace preferred XI v Liverpool
So the recent team selections of Palace have been increasingly frustrating with a select few players absolutely needing to be dropped.
In goal, however, nothing changes with Sam Johnstone among the most consistently good players in the squad.
At right-back is where we want to see the first change made. Chris Richards may have featured for the last few games in midfield, but it is imperative that Joel Ward is dropped after another horrific display.
The rest of the back four remains relatively unchanged with Marc Guehi looking to bounce back alongside Joachim Andersen who both start.
At left-back, we then want to see Tyrick Mitchell continue in his role.
In midfield, Jefferson Lerma and Will Hughes could make a solid duo in central midfield, a duo who would sit back and allow the attackers to do the attacking.
That is where the next change comes into play with Jeffery Schlupp finally dropped, allowing £40k-a-week Matheus Franca to start for the first time for Palace, in the 10 position.
Michael Olise and Jordan Ayew both retain their places on the wings.
Meanwhile, in the striker position, Odsonne Edouard should continue as he has been playing well up top.
