Chris Sutton raves about Adam Wharton

Sutton wrote his predictions for the latest round of the Premier League on Thursday for the BBC.

But before he could get around to predicting the game, he had to take a moment to wax lyrical about one Eagles superstar in the making, Adam Wharton, here’s what he said.

“Palace have a classy player in midfield too in Adam Wharton – I saw enough of him at my old club Blackburn to be impressed and I love the way he knits things together so effortlessly.

“Wharton is not the fastest but the first three yards are in his head and he just sees things quicker than most people.

“He can still improve some aspects of his game but he has only just turned 20 and looks like a shrewd piece of business by the Eagles.”

This raving review of course comes the week after £22m Wharton put in a sublime display against Liverpool, which saw him a standout for his defensive work.

Sutton predicts Crystal Palace’s result against West Ham

After lauding Wharton, Sutton wasn’t quite ready to make his prediction as he also singled out a Palace duo for their role in the team.

“I don’t think it is a huge coincidence that the Eagles put in that performance when they had Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise in the team together.

“They carry much more of a threat with both of them fit, and it changes my whole way of thinking when I am predicting Palace games.”

Finally, he got onto his prediction and for the first time in a long time, Sutton actually backed Palace to win.

He stated a 2-1 scoreline as his prediction, which would delight many an Eagles supporter if it were to come true.
