Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi has been going from strength to strength at Selhurst Park, and is now attracting heavy transfer interest.

It has emerged that the 23-year-old does not want to leave the club in January, but after the European Championships this summer, Palace may have to brace themselves for several big bids.

The centre-back has been outstanding since his arrival from Chelsea in the summer of 2021, and his former club are one of the sides interested in a potentially big-money deal.

Guehi’s desire to stay at Palace is seemingly motivated by his aim of going to the EUROs, and playing regularly under Roy Hodgson would give him a better chance than if he was to be benched elsewhere.

Alan Pardew claims Marc Guehi would start for Chelsea

Speaking on TalkSPORT, former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew praised Guehi, claiming that he is the club’s best player, and that he would start for Chelsea.

“They’ve let some great young players go, by the way. Crystal Palace’s best player is an ex-Chelsea player. He’s absolutely brilliant,” he stated.

“I mean, he would play every week for Chelsea, no doubt, absolutely no doubt. There’s not just players coming in that have made errors, they’ve made errors in releasing players too.”

Despite the heavy spending over the last year, Chelsea have struggled this season, and are just three points ahead of Crystal Palace, even though Hodgson’s side have won just once in the last eight games.

Crystal Palace have five clean sheets this season, compared to Chelsea’s three, and Guehi has been a huge part of the back line.

Chelsea do have a lot of options at centre-back, including Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi, but Guehi is arguably better than most of them, and if Chelsea were to sign him eventually, he would likely walk into the side.
