Christantus Uche appears to aim dig at Oliver Glasner in new post praising UEFA

Christantus Uche is now back at Getafe after his loan spell with Crystal Palace officially ended on 30th June.

The Nigeria international had a bright start to life at Selhurst Park under Oliver Glasner, memorably scoring a stunning goal in the 2-2 draw against KuPS which actually won the fan vote for the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League Goal of the Tournament.

However, Uche was left out of the squad for the knockout phase following the arrivals of Jorgen Strand Larsen, Brennan Johnson and Evann Guessand.

Having also been axed from the squad for the last nine Premier League games, the Nigerian has now seemingly aimed a pointed dig at Glasner – who he already publicly criticised in May.

Would you have Uche back now Glasner is gone? 🤔

He wasn't worth triggering the £17m option to buy, but there's definitely a player in there… 👀

Christantus Uche seems to call Oliver Glasner “devilish” as Nigerian confirms he received UEFA Conference League medal

The 23-year-old was ineligible for a UEFA Conference League medal after Glasner left him out of the squad, but it appears UEFA have now arranged one for the Getafe star.

In a caption accompanying a photo of the medal on Instagram, Uche wrote: “A devilish person may try to bring you down with their wicked actions, but you are resilient and blessed, rising above their negativity, thanks to you, UEFA.”

Some may say that caption is open to interpretation, but we are confident it’s a dig at Glasner after what the man born in Owerri told Read Crystal Palace about the Austrian in May.

Uche said: “I may not have much playing time, but I am grateful for the fans who continue to support me and the team. Your dedication and enthusiasm mean a lot and I hope to make you proud whenever I do get the chance to play, but I know maybe it won’t happen again because the coach doesn’t like me.

“Nevertheless, thank you for always being there and cheering us on. I love you guys.”

Uche made no secret of his unhappiness after Glasner – who is joining Nottingham Forest – practically exiled him in the second half of the season, also posting a video on Instagram saying “life has been so unfair lately” along with a video of someone crying.

We hope Uche can resurrect his career with Getafe next season, as he certainly showed flashes of his impressive ability while on loan at Crystal Palace.

Would Oliver Glasner ruin his Crystal Palace legacy by moving to Nottingham Forest? 🤔

It is pleasing to see that UEFA finally gave him a medal too – a reward he richly deserves after scoring two goals in his four appearances in the UEFA Conference League last term.
