The new manager hunt at Crystal Palace is well and truly underway right now and the club’s admiration for another coach has been revealed.

Roy Hodgson‘s position at Crystal Palace is untenable with a run of devastating results finally getting to Steve Parish, with the 76-year-old now on the chopping block.

The Palace board are said to be furious with him over the Michael Olise injury situation as he once more rushed the No.7 back into action with two months on the sidelines now forced upon him – according to the Daily Mail.

But with that in mind, the club are now looking for a replacement but has hit a stumbling block with many options – that being managers aren’t willing to take over immediately.

Now the latest manager to be mentioned is also proving a tricky one to convince right now…

Crystal Palace admire Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna

According to a report from Sami Mokbel with the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace admire 37-year-old generational coach Kieran McKenna.

They wrote that the “Ipswich boss is admired,” this likely thanks to his logic-defying performance at The Tractor Boys over the last two seasons.

He turned The Blues from lower-table relegation battlers into league winners over the course of just a year. The rise didn’t stop there as he’s now got them battling hard well above their weight for Championship promotion to the Premier League.

But as is the case with multiple options right now for Palace, there are doubts over whether he’d be willing to depart Ipswich immediately especially as he bids for promotion.

This paints a similar story to what we’ve heard from the Steve Cooper links over recent days with the 44-year-old in that case unwilling to take the job before the end of the season.

McKenna is the future, Palace must make him number one target

McKenna is just 37, and already showing that he could be a truly special manager – one which Palace would be delighted to nab early.

This sentiment is shared by Match of the Day pair Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, the duo lauded McKenna earlier this season on The Rest is Football podcast.

Lineker began by saying: “I’m going to go with Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town. I think he’s done a brilliant job with them.”

To this Shearer concurred: “I would agree with you there, he’s doing a great job.”

Before Lineker continued: “He’s got something hasn’t he? They’re flying at the top of the league.”

Finally Shearer concluded: “He’s doing a really good job, yeah.”
