Romain Esse is a hot topic among Crystal Palace fans after the former Millwall man was axed by Oliver Glasner earlier this season.
Romain Esse is still adjusting to life at Crystal Palace following his £12million move from Millwall in January this year.
He’s since made eight Premier League appearances for the Eagles but hasn’t started a top flight game. In fact, Oliver Glasner slammed Esse following his performance against Millwall earlier in the season.
Esse was brought off at half-time and he’s not featured for the first-team since. But he’s making progress with the club’s U21s and with England’s U21s too.

Lee Carsley praises Romain Esse after England U21s call
Last week, Esse was called up to the England U21s side after injuries forced Lee Carsley’s hand. And although Esse didn’t feature in either game in this month’s international break, being an unused substitute in both, the Young Lions boss was full of praise for the Palace man.
Carsley hailed Esse’s attitude with the England side, saying: “He’s got a brilliant attitude. I’m very impressed with Romain. It’s not easy to make a move from one club to another.
“He’s a player that I’ve enjoyed working with. I left him out of the initial squad. But the fact that he got called up, as we needed a player, shows you are never too far away from the squad.”

Crystal Palace fans back Romain Esse amid current struggles
After Carsley’s positive comments, plenty of Crystal Palace fans have also shown their support for Esse. “Good to hear” wrote one Crystal Palace supporter in response to Carsley’s comments. Another said it was “very encouraging”.
Another fan wrote: “I hope he can turn it around at Palace. Seems like a decent bloke who’s just trying a bit too hard,” as this Palace supporter added: “Only a matter of time” before Esse is back in the first-team picture.
This Crystal Palace fan said: “That’s encouraging to hear. He obviously has talent and just needs to adjust to his role in the Palace team.”
A lengthier comment read: “As a fan base we need to rally behind him in a big way. Both Glasner and Carsley have praised his character, so that makes it clear his current struggles aren’t because of a poor attitude or lack of effort. Let’s make sure he feels the love and gets his confidence back.”
Crystal Palace return to Premier League action against Bournemouth this weekend.
