After a bad opening two games this season, Crystal Palace are finally on the way up.
Oliver Glasner’s Eagles drew 1-1 with Chelsea on Sunday, to finally get off the zero-point mark as Crystal Palace look to push for a European spot this season.
The game saw Ebere Eze score an incredible goal to level things up at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Dean Henderson was highlighted for his shot-stopping with six saves in the game.
But now one other player is in line for praise with impressive figures emerging after the first three games of the season.
Ismaila Sarr having an impressive start to the season
Since being signed from Marseille during the summer transfer window, Ismaila Sarr has not been an instant hit.
Yet to score or assist for Crystal Palace, his impact has not been ideal in replacing Michael Olise – although nobody expected it to be that easy.
However, now new figures have been shared which showcase how creative Sarr has already been, despite only playing 46 minutes in the Premier League.
Sarr has created four chances in just 46 minutes – which leaves him with 7.83 chances created per 90 – a league-leading amount.
Andreas Pereira comes second with 14 chances created in 263 minutes – although a drastically lessened per 90 rate at 4.79.
Alejandro Garnacho has also created four chances this season, but with 123 minutes player, this leaves the £95m valued Manchester United talent averaging 2.93 per 90.
The signs are great for Crystal Palace
For Sarr, the No.7 shirt at Crystal Palace was always going to be a tough task – this being the case for whoever was signed to replace the Frenchman.
But while not playing that often, already Sarr has showcased his ability on the ball, with an impressive three chances being created in 21 minutes.
Sarr has also been credited with scoring the fourth goal against Norwich, despite the shot being by Eze, which leads us to believe there must have been a deflection the camera did not pick up.
We expect that Sarr’s role will continue to grow over the next few weeks and months as he becomes more familiar with the style of football Glasner wants to play.
He may not be like-for-like in quality to Olise, but he is proving to be very impressive already and the Eagles will be glad with their purchase.
