Michael Olise has enjoyed a special year – one that has made many a Crystal Palace fan proud.

The man born in Hammersmith amassed 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 appearances throughout the 2025/26 campaign for Bayern Munich in what was an otherworldly campaign, before helping France reach the last four of the World Cup with five assists in just seven appearances.

Olise has attracted the attention of Real Madrid as a result of his exceptional displays, and according to Foot Mercato in France, the former Crystal Palace man now wants to join the Spanish giants in what could be a lucrative switch for the Eagles.

Real Madrid might pay £170m for Michael Olise amid 15% Crystal Palace sell-on clause

Some Crystal Palace fans may not be aware that Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman negotiated a 15% sell-on clause when agreeing to sell Olise to Bayern Munich for £50m in July 2024.

It entitles Crystal Palace to 15% of the profits of any sale involving Bayern Munich and Olise.

Now, that clause could be activated over a sum of £170m.

Foot Mercato believe Olise wants to join Real Madrid this summer, and while Bayern Munich are publicly insisting the France international is not for sale, the French news outlet believe the German giants are already preparing for the prospect of losing the 24-year-old.

It is said that Bayern Munich would demand around €200m (£170m) from Real Madrid, and have already sounded out potential replacements for the former Reading attacker, such as PSG star Bradley Barcola.

The mathematicians amongst the Crystal Palace fanbase would have quickly figured out that £170m minus £50m is £120m, and that 15% of £120m equates to £18m – so the Eagles could be in line for a significant payment this summer from a deal which was struck two years ago.

It remains to be seen if this blockbuster £170m deal does go ahead this summer, but those in the boardroom at Selhurst Park will certainly be hoping for it to materialise – especially as the redevelopment of Selhurst Park is set to cost over £200m.
