Crystal Palace resumes the Premier League campaign on Saturday against Leicester City.

This represents a great chance for Crystal Palace to get a first win on the board after a disappointing first three games which saw two defeats and a draw against Chelsea.

It pits Crystal Palace against a positional rival in the league table with Leicester currently a place above.

So while Crystal Palace are clear favourites – with Paul Merson predicting a 3-0 Eagles win – it won’t be an easy game and yet it is one that must be won.

Now, Oliver Glasner has provided team news updates.

Oliver Glasner rules out Trevoh Chalobah

While there was excitement that as many as four players could be in line for a debut for the Eagles, one is now confirmed to be out for this weekend’s game.

This is according to Glasner who has confirmed that on-loan central defender Trevoh Chalobah will miss out on a debut for Crystal Palace here.

Chalobah picked up an injury during his first training session with the club, but he won’t be out for too long with the Carabao Cup fixture against QPR and Manchester United also doubtful.

“He injured his abdominal muscle in his first session with us – it’s a really strange injury.

“He’s also not available tomorrow. It won’t take very long. He’s questionable for QPR and Man United as well.”

This is a real disappointment for Eagles fans who were keen to see Chalobah in action after his first interview explained why he was signed.

Crystal Palace team news

While Chalobah is out, one player ruled fit is Adam Wharton, Glasner explained: “He will be available. He needed last week to train individually. When we started on Tuesday this week, he had every single training session.”

Wharton had been requiring injections to play through the opening games of the season so to hear he is fit and hopefully all better is encouraging.

Chadi Riad picked up an injury during the Carabao Cup outing against Norwich and now a timeframe has been set for his return: “The doctor says it will take 8-12 weeks.”

Glasner also shared an update on the seemingly endless injury woes of Matheus Franca: “Franca is also not available. He is coming closer to the training pitch, but he ruptured his rib, and it’s just painful. He has already started training individually on the pitch.”

Besides this, Glasner could be set for a fully fit side which will have been his big hope over the international break.

There are also some interesting questions now raised over team selection which we look forward to getting an answer on.
