Roy Hodgson is now coming under increased pressure as Crystal Palace manager, and time may be running out for him.

Palace have suffered a dismal run of just one win in their last 12 games, are out of both cups, and some young talents within the squad are being starved of game time.

Fans are unhappy with both Hodgson and the club hierarchy including Steve Parish, and made their feelings clear with a banner in Saturday’s 5-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Recent reports indicated that Hodgson may have less than three games to save his job, before leaving again at the end of the season anyway.

Former Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has now given his verdict on whether Hodgson will make it to the end of the season in the dugout.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Allardyce claimed that he does not expect Hodgson to last the whole season at Palace.

“No. I’d like him to but I don’t think he will,” Allardyce stated when asked if Hodgson will finish the campaign.

“Steve’s (Parish) not a man for hanging around. We’ve seen that before. If he thinks it’s not going to turn around very quickly.

“He gave Patrick (Vieira) a long time didn’t he? Even with 10 games without a win, it’s a long time in the Premier League.

“Roy’s players can only save him by winning.”

Many were surprised when Palace sacked Patrick Vieira last season, but his side were 10 games without a win, and cracks had started to appear.

However, Hodgson is on a worse run now, with one win in 12. Fans are unhappier than ever before, and given that he is set to leave anyway, there is no long-term benefit to be gained by him being given more time.

Dismissing Hodgson now would be even more justifiable than Vieira’s sacking last season, particularly given that the likes of David Ozoh and Matheus Franca could potentially start thriving in this campaign if given a chance by a new manager.

At this point, hardly anyone expects Hodgson to last the season, and Parish is simply delaying the inevitable the longer he keeps him on.
