Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson looks set to step down from his managerial role with Oliver Glasner to take charge.

After a run of just four wins in 20 games, which saw Crystal Palace sink slowly towards the relegation zone, it seems a managerial change is in the offing.

This first seemed nailed on on Thursday as Oliver Glasner emerged as the man Steve Parish and the rest of the board had decided should take charge.

However, Thursday also saw a concerning incident regarding Roy Hodgson‘s health transpire at training, which has likely delayed the club’s final announcement, although it now seems Hodgson will step down on medical grounds.

This has also seen the 76-year-old receive quite a few messages.

Sepp Blatter sends Roy Hodgson a message

After Hodgson’s health scare, he’s been sent a lot of support by other members of the footballing world.

This saw a handful of Premier League bosses send messages, including Mikel Arteta, David Moyes and Ange Postecoglou.

Now former FIFA President Sepp Blatter has sent his own message to Hodgson on X, which proves how valued he is in football.

“Dear Friend Roy, I’m sorry what has happened to you. I wish you a speedy recovery. Stay in our game. You are one of the greatest. Best wishes!”

The manager switch seems to be all in place, with Palace according to The Sun, “aware of the sensitivity around announcing a new manager given the delicate situation”.

This report also states that Hodgson has agreed to step aside while everything including wages is agreed with Glasner which should make the change imminent.

That being said, it’s unlikely Glasner will take charge of Monday’s massive relegation battle game and instead, Paddy McCarthy will be the boss for that game.
