Crystal Palace have been revealed to have three players among the league leaders for tackle success rate.

Recently at Selhurst Park, there hasn’t been a great deal to get excited about with poor form since the season started leaving Roy Hodgson on thin ice.

There has been an improvement over the last two weeks though, with a decent display in defeat against Liverpool last weekend. This was continued over the weekend just past against Manchester City with a dramatic comeback to see a 2-2 draw.

Despite that, there is a belief Hodgson remains at risk, especially as top target Steve Cooper becomes available after being sacked by Nottingham Forest.

But amid this negativity, there are reasons to be positive and Tyrick Mitchell is leading the way with Crystal Palace stars thriving in shock stats.

Crystal Palace prove they’re among the best tacklers in the league

Palace may not have been in tremendous form, but they’ve been among the best at tackling in the Premier League this season.

According to stats by TheOther14 on X, Palace have three players in the top 20 for tackles completed in the entire league.

Jordan Ayew is the lowest ranked in the top 20 and Palace’s first on the list. He boasts a completion percentage of 72.3% and has made 34 tackles this campaign.

For the second Palace player in the list, we jump up to 14th in the list with Cheick Doucoure who’s got a 73.9% completion rate in his tackles while also making 34.

Palace’s best tackler however is full-back Tyrick Mitchell who boasts a whopping 80.4% through 37 tackles, smashing the likes of Declan Rice and Rodri out of the water.

Palace need more players like Tyrick Mitchell

The only team equalling Palace’s number is Everton but Hodgson will be disappointed to see that he has one fullback on the list, while the other is nowhere to be seen.

That’s an issue and clearly suggests that one side of the defence is weaker than the other. Something many Palace fans will be aware of with Joel Ward not a favourite right now.

A couple more players with percentages reaching the 80s and suddenly Palace could double their defensive solidity.
