Gary Lineker has discussed Crystal Palace star, Marc Guehi following his appearance against Italy for England this week.

Guehi was called up to the England senior team by Gareth Southgate for games against Australia and Italy this week.

Considering he signed for £18 million, after a loan spell with Swansea City, he has become a top-class player in just two years with the Eagles.

With five other centre-back options also selected, the Palace man was only able to feature in 27 minutes at Wembley.

The England boss had come under fire for starting Harry Maguire, despite a lack of game time for Manchester United this season.

With that being said, Guehi still managed to give a good account of himself for the Three Lions.

What has Gary Lineker said about Marc Guehi?

Speaking on his podcast, The Rest Is Football, Lineker had been discussing a 3-1 over Italy for Southgate’s side.

Guehi came off the bench to replace John Stones and helped to see out an important win.

On the defence on the night, Lineker said: “You look at the back for England and central defence, but John Stones is an exceptional footballer, Harry Maguire has never let his country down.”

Considering those two have played a combined 138 minutes in the Premier League this season, it is a mockery to those who have been in great form.

The Palace man has played all but one game this season, featuring in 629 minutes. On this basis, he deserved more game time.

In his limited time, he still impressed. Lineker was keen to praise him: “I thought Marc Guehi when he came on was really impressive and authoritative.”

The former Chelsea defender has been a revolution since joining the club and is only going to get better.
