John Textor finds himself in limbo at Crystal Palace after trying – but failing – to buy Everton.
The American – who is one of four board members at Selhurst Park alongside Steve Parish, Josh Harris and David Blitzer – was quite public in his attempts to sell his 45% stake in Crystal Palace in order to purchase Everton in a £600m move.
Textor even said “no disrespect to Crystal Palace” as he talked up Everton and their history, suggesting the Eagles are an inferior club.
However, the 58-year-old saw his plans to take over at Goodison Park shattered after Dan Friedkin agreed a deal to buy Everton, while the man from Missouri tried to sell his Crystal Palace stake.
Despite this setback, the motive has not changed for John Textor.
John Textor still looking to sell 45% Crystal Palace stake
A story on Alan Nixon’s Patreon now states that the man known as Hollywood’s virtual reality guru is still intent on leaving Crystal Palace, maintaining plans to buy another club to add to his portfolio, which also includes Lyon, Botafogo and RWD Molenbeek.
The respected journalist states that Textor is keeping his eyes peeled for new opportunities, but in the meantime, will still aim to find a buyer for his 45% stake in Crystal Palace.

It is believed that Parish, Blitzer and Harris took Textor’s decision to sell amicably, with no hard feelings lingering at boardroom level.
Failure to buy Everton could hurt Oliver Glasner
In light of the news that Textor is still aiming to sell Crystal Palace, it could have a negative impact on Oliver Glasner going forward.
Given the American’s desire to leave SE25 for good, he is highly unlikely to invest more money into Crystal Palace, so our transfer budget may be smaller than it would have been if Textor was fully committed to the cause.

That could lead to some further frustration for Glasner in the transfer market, after the sale of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich already left a glaring hole in the Austrian’s squad, a move which has had a huge impact on results.

Hopefully, that does not turn out to be the case, but it is hardly an ideal situation to have a majority shareholder be so eager to drop his involvement.
