Since arriving at Crystal Palace, questions have been asked about where Daichi Kamada truly fits into the team, now we might have our answer.
Signing a player as versatile and talented across the pitch as Daichi Kamada is always going to leave fans pondering where he’d end up playing.
A selection headache for most, but Oliver Glasner knows the Japanese international very well, and as he’s brought him to Crystal Palace, he surely has a plan on how to use him.
Well, as pre-season preparations heat up, now it looks like we have our answer to where Kamada will play, and it’s a very interesting move from the manager.
We don’t envy the decisions he’ll have to make in August.

Where Daichi Kamada was playing during a training game for Palace
Kamada is so versatile and upon his arrival it was thought he could play in multiple positions, such as attacking midfield, midfield, left wing-back and even upfront possibly.
But now thanks to a training video, we think we’ve spotted where the Japan international will be utilised by Glasner.
The answers came from a training video the club posted on the official YouTube account of Crystal Palace and toward the end, from around 6:28 into the video Kamada’s position can be seen.
In the clip, Kamada can be seen playing a central midfield role, alongside the returning Cheick Doucoure – which indicates that he’ll be in that position under Glasner this coming season.
He picks out some excellent passes in the clip, showing exactly why he should be in that role and more about why Glasner wanted him so badly.

Who should be Palace’s two starting midfielders this season
It will be very interesting to see who Glasner opts for as his first-choice duo in central midfield with a handful of excellent options.
Kamada is a different profile to the others, and considering he’s a clear favourite of Glasner, it’s safe to assume he starts.
But alongside him, it’s incredibly tough to decide who misses out. Doucoure prior to his injury was irreplaceable with links to Liverpool last summer. But since he’s been out, Adam Wharton has arrived and made himself almost irreplaceable.
It seems like it’ll be one of these two who begins the season in the role, with Jefferson Lerma potentially seen as an alternative in both midfield and defence if needed.
Doucoure will have enjoyed a full pre-season, while Wharton will be returning at the beginning of August, so we think it’ll be Doucoure who kicks off the season alongside Kamada.
