Crystal Palace have recently been linked with a move for Dutch U19s star Kees Smit at AZ Alkmaar.

The summer transfer window has only been closed for one month, but already there are murmurs of potential Crystal Palace January signings.

The Eagles look as though they could bolster well in January in a bid to maintain this strong form in both the Premier League and in the Conference League too.

In midweek, Crystal Palace beat Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in Poland to kickstart their Conference League campaign with a bang, whilst also sitting in 3rd place of the Premier League table.

Oliver Glasner’s side are now unbeaten in 19 games in all competitions and so the January transfer window could be a vital refuelling spot for Palace to go on and win another trophy this season.

Kees Smit admits he wants to ‘step up’ amid Crystal Palace transfer rumours

One name linked of late is Kees Smit. The 19-year-old midfielder was the U19s Euros Player of the Tournament and top scorer this summer and he’s now become one of the hottest young prospects in Europe, with links to the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

And recent reports have revealed how Crystal Palace have taken an interest in Smit ahead of January. But speaking this summer, the AZ Alkmaar midfielder suggested that he’s in no rush to leave AZ, whilst also admitting that he does want to make a step up sooner rather than later.

He told De Telegraaf when asked about his £25million transfer rumours: “We’re talking about large sums of money. That’s not easy. I talk about it at home sometimes. Not every week, mind you. But I do know what I want: to have a good season with AZ. After that, I’ll see what happens. Ultimately, I also want to take a step up, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be next year. But I do want to reach the top as quickly as possible.”

Who else is linked with Crystal Palace ahead of January?

With two months left until the winter transfer window, it’s inevitable that transfer rumours coming out of Selhurst Park are somewhat few and far between.

But there are a few nonetheless. Smit is one and other names mentioned include Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande and Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong, who are both centre-backs.

They’ve been mentioned as possible Marc Guehi replacements at Crystal Palace amid the centre-backs ongoing links to Liverpool and the growing possibility that he leaves as a free agent next summer.

Though Guehi has insisted he’s happy at Crystal Palace for the time being, Glasner certainly looks as though he’s working hard to find Geuhi’s heir, and he could well bring him in in January.
