Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of defender Maxence Lacroix on transfer deadline day.

The 24-year-old moves to Selhurst Park on a five-year deal running until 2029, following his switch from VFL Wolfsburg.

Maxence Lacroix previously starred under Oliver Glasner at the Bundesliga club, with the Frenchman now set to reunite with him at Crystal Palace.

The centre-back is the fourth signing of the summer for the Eagles, who are still looking to get some business done before the end of deadline day.

However, with Lacroix now added to their ranks, the team is now looking even stronger for the upcoming Premier League challenge.

Maxence Lacroix seals Crystal Palace transfer

With a deal now sealed, Lacroix has spoken about his switch to Crystal Palace, revealing that he has been watching the side since Glasner took charge.

Speaking to the official Crystal Palace website, the defender said: “It’s like a dream for a young football player.

“I’m really happy to be here and arrive at this good team.

“I watched Palace’s last games and I was really happy for the coach, because I’d played under him before.

“I think it’s the right moment to move to the Premier League.”

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish added: “We have watched Maxence play at the very highest level of European football and we are delighted to be able to welcome him to Selhurst Park.

“He is another young, talented player to add to the club, and I am sure he will prove himself to be a valuable asset for Oliver and the squad.”

It’s a move which has strengthened the squad for the remainder of the campaign, following on from Joachim Andersen’s move to Fulham.

With Marc Guehi set to stay, despite rumours persisting over a transfer to Newcastle this summer, the backline is finally taking shape.

Crystal Palace transfer state of play

So with Lacroix now finally through the door, the incomings don’t seem set to stop there at Copers Cope on deadline day.

Eddie Nketiah is set to join Crystal Palace from Arsenal in a deal worth an initial £25million rising to £30million with add-ons.

Beyond him, Matt Turner is set to join the Eagles as a potential backup goalkeeper option following Sam Johnstone’s move to Wolves.

Trevoh Chalobah is another Crystal Palace signing expected in the final few hours after reports of a loan deal emerged.
