Crystal Palace are still in the market for reinforcements this summer – and two players who Oliver Glasner has signed previously could arrive at Selhurst Park in bargain deals.
Dougie Freedman has already reunited the Austrian with a player he knows well after Daichi Kamada was brought to Selhurst Park on a free transfer in July – a bargain for a player of his quality.
The Japan international previously made 93 appearances under the man from Salzburg at Eintracht Frankfurt – scoring 25 goals while also providing 12 assists.
Now, two more players Oliver Glasner knows well could arrive at Crystal Palace in cut-price deals…
Crystal Palace could take advantage of Maxence Lacroix and Aster Vranckx situations
Crystal Palace have been strongly linked with moves for VfL Wolfsburg duo Maxence Lacroix and Aster Vranckx in the past week.
Incidentally, it was Glasner who signed both for the Bundesliga outfit.
A story from L’Equipe claimed that Crystal Palace have opened talks with VfL Wolfsburg over the signing of Lacroix as Marc Guehi nears a move to Newcastle.
Elsewhere, the reliable Fabrizio Romano stated that Freedman is still in discussions with the German side about a deal for Vranckx.
Crucially, both the Frenchman and the Belgian have already entered the final 12 months of their contracts at VfL Wolfsburg, so two bargain agreements could be arranged by Freedman.
German news outlet Kicker believe Lacroix is not going to sign a new deal and has actually rejected one offer already, with the aforementioned story from L’Equipe adding that the 24-year-old is training alone as he targets an exit.
There has been no update on whether Vranckx will sign a new deal, although the mere fact he only has 11 months left on his current contract means a bargain is there to be had – Romano believes an £8m agreement could even be struck.
Time for Dougie Freedman to work his magic
Freedman is a very shrewd operator in his role as Director of Football, one who does not overspend and is happy to be patient.
For example, a lengthy pursuit of Ismaila Sarr ended with the Glaswegian signing the Senegal international from Marseille for just £12.7m this summer – with the forward previously valued at £40m during his time at Watford.
Freedman has also shown he knows how to take advantage of expiring contracts in the past when snapping up Jefferson Lerma and Sam Johnstone for free.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Lacroix and Vranckx could soon be jetting over to SE25 together to reunite with Glasner.
