Crystal Palace miss out on Robin Gosens transfer
Robin Gosens was linked with a Crystal Palace transfer earlier this summer as a potential option on the left flank.
The 30-year-old has been heavily talked about as an exit possibility from Union Berlin, though it won’t be to Selhurst Park.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the German international is set for a move to Fiorentina on deadline day.
The Serie A outfit have agreed a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause worth roughly £6.3million to secure a switch, which will likely end any hope of the Eagles landing him instead.
It means that Glasner will likely look elsewhere to secure an option who can compete with Tyrick Mitchell on the left moving forward.
Crystal Palace left-back profile
It is currently unknown which other left-backs could be targeted by Crystal Palace before the end of the transfer window.
However, the profile of the type of wing-backs Glasner likes is clear from his history at previous clubs.
In his successful time at Eintracht Frankfurt, the manager would push his wing-backs high to get involved in the attacking phase.
Filip Kostic would be the option on the left, with the ability to pick out a cross for his attacking teammates to get on the end of.
In the Europa League winning campaign, the Serbian international picked up three goals and six assists from just 12 appearances on the way to victory.
It’s clear that a similar attacking profile may be desired if the club want to get the most out of the manager’s tactics.
