Crystal Palace are in store for a blockbuster conclusion to the summer transfer window.
After a couple of weeks of relative silence around Crystal Palace’s transfer activity, things have now begun heating up.
It is all stemming from Palace agreeing to sell Joachim Andersen to Fulham for £30m. This has kicked the Eagles into action and a new centre-back or two now looks to be on the cards.
Tomas Araujo has emerged as a top target for Palace over the past day. This interest has led to the Eagles submitting a bid for the Benfica player on Wednesday.
Interestingly, it has now been reported that Palace have made a bid for a second defender.

Crystal Palace also submit a bid for Maxence Lacroix
Dougie Freedman is not messing about and after bidding for Araujo, he has also made an offer for top centre-back target Maxence Lacroix.
It was reported on Tuesday that Palace were preparing to bid for Lacroix, and now the club have made good on this rumour, according to various outlets.
Fabrizio Romano has tweeted to claim that Palace have submitted an opening offer worth £14m in total for Lacroix. This is comprised of £12m in a fixed fee and £2m in add-ons.
It is then added that he wants to leave Wolfsburg this summer and has only one year left on his deal.
Glasner considers Lacroix a top target, and for the Bundesliga side, it would be smart to accept the deal.
Bidding for two defenders shows that Palace are serious about adequately replacing Andersen.
Palace could sign both Lacroix and Araujo
For Palace the most important thing about losing a player like Andersen is that he is replaced well, and with both Lacroix and Araujo that would be the case.
These two additions would give Glasner a really impressive group to choose his three starting defenders from.

- Tomas Araujo*
According to Bobby Manzi, interest in the duo stems from both Freedman and Glasner. The director of football wants Araujo and Glasner has been lobbying for Lacroix.
While losing Andersen is not ideal, with these two it is undeniable that Palace would be in a better place.
