Crystal Palace’s recent transfer business makes it clear Marc Guehi’s exit is near.
As links to Newcastle heat up, Marc Guehi looks likely to be making a £60m move up north to St. James’ Park.
It would be a big loss for Crystal Palace, as the 24-year-old would join Michael Olise on the exit list.
However, it has already become evident that Dougie Freedman has not been caught off guard by these developments, with replacements already being targeted.
Maxence Lacroix is on the list, with Palace already making an offer according to French reports, but now there is a second player on the agenda.
Palace view Trevoh Chalobah as Guehi replacement
With Lacroix already identified, it has now been reported that Palace could be looking to offer Trevoh Chalobah an escape path from Chelsea this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, the Eagles are considering making a move for Chalobah – who is available this summer – to replace Guehi this summer
Chalobah was excluded from Chelsea’s pre-season tour and therefore is for sale this summer which has alerted Palace to the fact he could be a possibility.
The Cobham graduate is just an option on the shortlist at the moment for Palace – but it could potentially be a real coup if the club manage to sign him.
It would see Palace replace the Chelsea graduate with yet another talented Chelsea academy graduate in an almost full-circle moment.
Chalobah is a long-term target for Palace, with interest throughout the 2023/24 season.

Chalobah could be perfect for Oliver Glasner
In his efforts to adapt Palace and turn the club into one vastly different to when he took over, Oliver Glasner needs to ensure that the quality of his team does not suffer from Guehi’s exit.
So picking up a player like Chalobah would be ideal in many ways, but most importantly he is a player who could still get so much better.
Chalobah is excellent on the ball, passing at an 89.4% completion rate – so he would slot in perfectly alongside Joachim Andersen.
The 25-year-old is Premier League proven which is another tick in his column. But we will need to wait and see who is chosen to replace Guehi, either way, it seems likely to be an excellent addition.
