The striker position is one Crystal Palace are now seemingly actively looking at strengthening.
For all of the problems Crystal Palace have endured this season so far, arguably the worst of all has been in an attacking sense.
Oliver Glasner’s Eagles have scored eight in 10 games, a tally which is the second lowest in the entire Premier League.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 17 | 10 | 1 | 4 | 5 | 8 | 13 | -5 | 7 |
The lack of a proper Michael Olise replacement is likely playing a big part, although, for Glasner, there will also be a feeling of real misfortune.
Countless missed chances signify that better finishing would see the fortunes at Selhurst Park flipped around, and so the hunt for a clinical striker is on.

Crystal Palace keen on Mathys Tel
A striker search has already seen Crystal Palace linked with a handful of names, including Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson.
Another to crop up has been Stade Reims’ young No.22 Oumar Diakite who has been tipped as a possible Jean-Philippe Mateta replacement.

Now, according to a report from Caught Offside, one possible January option could actually be Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
Tel is the subject of interest from multiple Premier League clubs, with Crystal Palace being one along with Fulham, Leicester and Nottingham Forest.
Bayern have made Tel available for loan but is still considering the 19-year-old as a key part of the future of the team.
Tel only joined Bayern Munich in 2022, costing around £25m at the time – although his potential made this seem a safe bit of business.
Oliver Glasner would love Bayern Munich wonderkid
Tel remains among the most exciting young players in world football despite not yet scoring a goal this season.
So far this season, Tel has only played 224 minutes across seven appearances in all competitions which points toward a loan being his best bet for game-time.
Thomas Tuchel is one manager to have worked with Tel, despite not being his biggest fan the German manager still had plenty of praise for the French striker.
“Hopefully we can find the right moments to bring [Tel] on because he has this raw type of energy as a striker that you find very, very rarely. He has this raw physicality, this huge power in his body. His finishing is very, very good. It’s our job to keep him going.”
While raw, Tel has the abilities to thrive in the Premier League and also the skills which Glasner would love to work with.
