Crystal Palace have been handed a boost in the chances of keeping one star player this summer with Liverpool no longer interested.
Having already lost Michael Olise this summer, the Eagles will be keen to retain the other two big-money players who’ve been linked with exits this summer.
Both Ebere Eze and Marc Guehi have been the focus of multiple clubs’ attention already in the transfer window. However, Crystal Palace won’t want to lose them both.
Eze has been linked heavily with Spurs as possible contract talks are rumoured. But for Guehi, a move could be off with his asking price being raised to £70m recently by Steve Parish.
Now, it’s been reported that Liverpool are no longer keen on signing Guehi this summer, here’s the full story.
Why Liverpool no longer want to sign Marc Guehi
Guehi looked like a sure departure this summer for months, but now we’re nearing August and he’s yet to have interest move beyond admiration.
Now according to Football Insider, Guehi is not a target for Liverpool anymore, due to the fact his price tag has been raised to £70m.
This is following his impressive tournament for England during Euro 2024 which saw him arguably the standout performer for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Due to this, and also no doubt the fact Everton was demanding £70m for the inferior Jarrad Branthwaite, it’s no shock that Guehi’s price tag has been raised.
Guehi therefore is unlikely to be moving to Anfield, and this could mean Oliver Glasner manages to retain his star defender for the upcoming season.

Crystal Palace have strong defensive options
This summer was all about rejuvenating the team for Glasner with depth being a major concern after injuries plagued last season.
Keeping Guehi would lessen the need for a further addition this summer in central defence and would leave a strong quartet of specialist central defenders.
Joachim Andersen, Chris Richards and Chadi Riad are the three others who will be competing with the Englishman for minutes in 2024/25.
Aside from these four, Jefferson Lerma and Nathaniel Clyne could also be options in central defence which leaves Palace with a strong group.
