Crystal Palace’s new era starts on Saturday against Fulham at Selhurst Park, here’s our predicted line-up for Oliver Glasner’s first game.
This weekend sees a long-awaited moment for Crystal Palace fans with an exciting new manager leading out the Eagles.
Oliver Glasner is as good as they come, and there’s a reason he was linked with multiple big European sides.
The Athletic’s German Football expert, Raphael Honigstein, even explained that Glasner had rejected one of Germany’s biggest sides before moving to Palace.
So now we are less than 24 hours away from Glasner’s first game and excitement is high. Here’s how we think Palace will line up to face Burnley.
Crystal Palace predicted XI vs Burnley
Glasner isn’t likely to make wholesale changes in his first game after so little time in charge of the Palace side. With that in mind, he is likely to pick his line-up based on what he saw on Monday night.
Sam Johnstone therefore could find himself once more in the starting line-up as he impressed on his return to the starting XI on Monday.
Assuming Glasner continues with a back three, then it’ll probably be Joel Ward, Joachim Andersen and Chris Richards who start as the trio did well against Everton. Marc Guehi doesn’t seem like he’ll be returning for this one, despite his excitement to be working with Glasner.
The two wingbacks Daniel Munoz on the right and Tyrick Mitchell on the left, were incredible on Monday, thriving in their new role and should start once more here.
In central midfield, Adam Wharton is already undroppable given how impressive he’s been in his first three games for Palace and should start this one, partnered by Jefferson Lerma.
In the one change from Monday, Matheus Franca should replace Odsonne Edouard as the left-sided winger although with a narrow instruction. Meanwhile, on the right, Jordan Ayew scored a wondergoal and therefore should continue against Burnley.
Up-front, Jean-Philippe Mateta has earned the right to start as he’s impressed lately with his all-round game and should suit the extra attacking emphasis under Glasner.
