The 2024/25 season has been one to forget so far this season for Crystal Palace, and things have just gotten worse.

On and off the pitch this season has been a bit of a nightmare for Oliver Glasner, Dougie Freedman and Steve Parish for a variety of reasons.

Most pressing of all will be the league position, with Crystal Palace sitting 18th in the Premier League – on track for relegation.

Another concern will be that Jean-Philippe Mateta is currently refusing contract talks, while Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi look likely to complete 2025 moves elsewhere.

Glasner’s managerial performances have also been far from satisfactory – leading to the Eagles’ interest in Graham Potter, while David Moyes would be keen on taking charge of Crystal Palace as well.

Now, another concern has been added on top of all of this.

David Ozoh injury piles misery onto Crystal Palace

One of the most exciting things this season was due to be watching the development of David Ozoh in the Championship where he is spending the season on loan at Derby.

But after a fast start, it has been nothing but setbacks for the young midfielder.

Speaking on Thursday, Derby County boss Paul Warne has revealed that Ozoh is now back on the injury list.

“He has had a setback,” Warne explained.

“He’s damaged his quad which is disappointing because that was his last day. He’d had two last days with the physical team before he joined the squad training today, so we will definitely be missing him – we won’t see him before the international break that’s for sure.”

Continuing, Warne commented on the injury and admitted how big of a blow it was for everyone.

“That’s a massive blow, he’s devastated because by the time he comes back, that’s two and a half months we’ve been without him after a really good start.

“We wish him a speedy recovery. It’s frustrating for everybody.”

Why Derby County will be desperate for Ozoh return

Injuries cut Ozoh’s excellent start to life in the Championship short and annoyingly came in the game following his standout performance against Bristol City – including a goal.

Ozoh had been impressing Derby, and it is pretty easy to see why.

As demonstrated through these numbers, Ozoh was blowing the Championship away and dominating his opponents, which boded well for his future at Selhurst Park, where he is set to return next summer.

Hopefully, his injury problems can subside and he gets to play a lot of football between November and May.
