Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has been proving himself in the Championship this season which has seen talk of a Crystal Palace recall in January heat up.

The Eagles’ loan manager Mark Bright is certainly having a busy 2024/25 so far with multiple Crystal Palace players of varying levels out on loan.

Odsonne Edouard and Naouirou Ahamada are two first-team players who have been out on loan at Leicester and Rennes respectively.

Goalkeeper Joe Whitworth has been immense for Exeter City, while Owen Goodman has been impressing at Colchester.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and David Ozoh are the two Championship loanees, with Rak-Sakyi in particular very impressive.

Now, the 22-year-old winger’s manager at Sheffield United has spoken out about the chances of losing Rak-Sakyi in January.

Rak-Sakyi has scored four goals and assisted two this season for the Blades as they sit top of the Championship table. However, with his form being so strong there is a chance that Palace come knocking in January to recall the winger.

Now though, as quoted by The Star on Thursday, Chris Wilder has shared his thoughts over whether Rak-Sakyi would return to London in January.

“No, we are in communication with Palace. Mark Bright was up at the game on Tuesday and we’re in constant communication.

“We’re incredibly confident that Jez will be with us. I spoke to Jez about it as well, and he’s got his head down and he wants to stay for the season. We’re really confident that will happen.”

With Sheffield United and Rak-Sakyi keen to keep the loan valid for the remainder of the season, we see no reason why the Eagles would cancel it. Despite goal-scoring being a massive issue for Oliver Glasner’s side.

Do Crystal Palace need to recall Rak-Sakyi?

The Eagles are having an utterly atrocious season in front of goal and currently, only Southampton have scored fewer goals this season than Glasner’s side with 10.

Additionally, Crystal Palace are looking to sign a creative attacker to play on the right which is the position Rak-Sakyi would operate in.

Therefore, it seems a no-brainer that the club would look to bring Rak-Sakyi back in January. However, with Rayan Cherki being linked it may be unlikely.

If another player is going to be signed, then it would be best to allow Rak-Sakyi to continue shining for Sheffield United. However, if relegation still looks likely in January and goals are still hard to come by then Palace’s hand may be forced.
