Crystal Palace loan manager sent several young Eagles out on loan this season, with Naouirou Ahamada among the most notable.

Oliver Glasner allowed several of the best young talents who were on the cusp of Crystal Palace senior football to leave on loan for the 2024/25 season.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is one player away for the season, as he impresses for Sheffield United.

For David Ozoh, an impressive start at Derby has been curtailed by injury which will now keep him out for most of November.

Other promising youngsters such as Joe Whitworth and Owen Goodman have been on loan in League One and Two respectively – with both among the best goalkeepers in their leagues.

But how has forgotten man Naouirou Ahamada been faring at Rennes?

One player who has had a pretty catastrophic time on loan is Ahamada – with his season-long loan to Rennes so far not even beginning to get the wheels spinning, let alone taking off.

Ahamada joined Rennes in August and has not yet made a single appearance for the Ligue 1 side – despite being at the club for seven Ligue 1 games.

Not getting a single minute of action is an enormous issue and the Rennes boss must really not rate him at all.

The only match time Ahamada has gotten since moving to France was 90 minutes in the Championnat National 3 – which was with Rennes’ B team.

This could give Glasner a pretty big decision to make in 2025.

What decision will Oliver Glasner have to make on Ahamada

It has been evident since Glasner’s arrival that Ahamada is simply a player he just does not plan on using in the slightest.

Ahamada was regularly an unused substitute last season – and showed little to argue the contrary in his cameo displays.

Due to this, not only did Ahamada sanction the loan – but also put an option to buy into the deal worth £6.7m.

This would see the Eagles take a £3.8m loss on the 22-year-old, although Glasner appears convinced it is the correct decision.
