Oliver Glasner has been speaking with the press ahead of Crystal Palace’s trip to Villa Park as injuries were the main conversation.

Despite a disappointing start to the Premier League season for Crystal Palace, there is optimism around Selhurst Park.

Data showcases Crystal Palace’s expected points tally is 15.70 – which is a drastic underperformance considering the Eagles have just seven points so far.

However, for all the negativity around Selhurst Park – Glasner will probably point to the Crystal Palace injury crisis as one defining factor.

However, there has been some positive team news emerging from the club after Glasner’s press conference.

The injury list for Crystal Palace remains long, but Glasner has had some positive news at least.

Jefferson Lerma is expected to return against Villa, although it is not clear if Glasner means he will start or not.

Meanwhile, Cheick Doucoure is ready to start the game. A huge blessing in midfield after the struggles in recent weeks. Doucoure played an hour in a behind-closed-doors game during the international break to warm up for this game.

Eberechi Eze however will not be so lucky as he will miss out – but has been training, so a return next week should be on the cards. Also missing out will be Eddie Nketiah who has been injured since before the international break.

“He will come back maybe not for Newcastle but in one or two weeks.”

This could mean Wharton is back to face Ipswich Town perhaps on December 3rd. Or in the worst case, to take on Manchester City on December 7th.
