Crystal Palace have had a tough season on and off the pitch, with injury problems having a huge impact.

Things are never quite straightforward for the Eagles, is it?

After an incredible end to the 2023/24 campaign, hopes for this season were high and Daichi Kamada even admitted European ambitions upon his arrival – how far things have fallen.

However, as we fast approach December, Crystal Palace have only won one of 11 Premier League games to be played thus far.

This record has only been good enough to place the Eagles 18th in the Premier League – prompting the chances of relegation to rise.

Despite this poor start to the season, Oliver Glasner is expected to remain in his role as manager. Now, it has been unveiled just how bad of an injury crisis Glasner has had to deal with.

As much as performances have been disappointing, a portion of the blame can be placed on injuries sustained within the Eagles’ squad.

Sky Sports has done a study on the injury problems at every club in the division, specifically injuries which resulted in a player missing one or more games.

  1. Tottenham – 13
  2. Brighton and Ipswich – 12
  3. Aston Villa and Crystal Palace – 11
  4. Arsenal and Manchester City – 10

While not leading the league, Crystal Palace have had 11 injuries at one time or another is really detrimental considering how paper-thin the squad actually is.

Making matters worse, in relation to total days lost to injury, the Eagles are also stuck with the third most.

  1. Brighton – 397 days
  2. Ipswich – 340 days
  3. Crystal Palace – 319
  4. Arsenal – 297 days
  5. Wolves – 279 days

So while it cannot be an excuse, this record should be taken into account when evaluating the performances of the Eagles this season.

The current Crystal Palace injury list will give Oliver Glasner hope

Despite suffering so many injuries this season, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Glasner and Crystal Palace.

Current injured list

It has been suggested that Crystal Palace could see Eze, Lerma and Riad return next weekend, which would be a tremendous boost for the Eagles.

With an almost fully fit squad in hand, perhaps then we will see Glasner put a run together and leave these relegation fears behind.
