There has been some bad news for Crystal Palace involving Willian Pacho as Dougie Freedman lines up potential replacements for Marc Guehi.

The Eagles are seemingly preparing to lose at least one key man this summer – with plenty of speculation surrounding Michael Olise too – although a new rumour involving Arsenal and Liverpool means Crystal Palace may have to go back to the drawing board…

Willian Pacho rumour spells bad news for Crystal Palace

Well – according to TEAMtalk – Freedman had identified Eintracht Frankfurt No.3 Pacho as a potential replacement for Guehi.

The Colombia international was valued at £35m when this story emerged in October, as a result of his stunning efforts in Germany with Oliver Glasner’s old side, and seemed to be a realistic target.

Now, however – according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany – Arsenal and Liverpool have joined the race to sign Pacho.

This development has seen the South American’s price tag soar, with Eintracht Frankfurt now demanding €60m (£51m) for the Colombian.

Plettenburg wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “News #Pacho: The 22 y/o central defender from Eintracht Frankfurt is on the shortlist of @Arsenal and @LFC ! ➡️ Eintracht bosses informed about it ➡️ Eintracht demand around €60m in summer – as first via @lukdombro. Contract is valid until 2028. Top player and one to watch for summer transfer window. @SkySportDE 🇪🇨”.

It comes after a story by the Telegraph claimed that Manchester United are considering a move for Guehi this summer.

Marc Guehi alternatives

We strongly doubt a move for Pacho will materialise now Arsenal and Liverpool are involved, so let’s take a look at some other defenders who could replace Guehi, if he departs.

There is said to be interest from our side in Peterborough No.4 Ronnie Edwards, and a deal could happen this summer after negotiations took place in January.

Another central defender on Freedman’s radar is believed to be Valencia No.3 Cristhian Mosquera – according to the Evening Standard.

Clearly, there are several options to pursue if Guehi leaves Selhurst Park this summer, so be sure to keep an eye on the situation.
