John Textor is about to sell his 45% stake in Crystal Palace – after spending most of 2024 trying to find a buyer.

It was first reported back in January that Textor was frustrated at Crystal Palace – given Steve Parish’s power over decision making – and the situation has now developed enough for a sale to be on the brink of materialising.

Crystal Palace fans Zechariah Janjua and Navshir Jaffer have made a bid to buy the American out of Selhurst Park – with his 45% stake valued at £230m – and there has now been a major update on this situation from the Daily Mail.

Sami Mokbel has now revealed that John Textor has decided to sell his stake in Crystal Palace to Janjua and Jaffer – for one specific reason.

The Daily Mail state that Textor is keen to sell to a party with the club’s best interests at heart, and has consequently chosen to prioritise the two Crystal Palace supporters, with a full agreement expected by next week.

A group involving football financier Keith Harris also made a bid, while Stanley Tang, co-founder of DoorDash in the United States, had also considered making an offer.

Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Jason Kidd is also part of a consortium to submit a bid, working alongside Bejan Esmaili, Wajid Mir and two Saudi Arabian businessmen, Haider and Mansoor Syed.

However, Textor has decided to enter into final discussions with Janjua and Jaffer instead, keen to leave a positive legacy at Selhurst Park as he feels the duo hold Crystal Palace’s best interests at heart.

It remains to be seen just how strongly the duo hold Crystal Palace’s best interests at heart, as these stories should always be taken with a pinch of salt when someone is attempting to buy a football club and appease a fanbase.

However, if Janjua and Jaffer really do support Crystal Palace and are ready to put the club’s interests ahead of their own bank balance, we could well be in for an exciting time, especially with a fan in Parish already at the helm.

Should that turn into reality, Textor will deserve credit for ensuring his 45% stake ended up in the right hands.
