What Oliver Glasner has already said about Vincent Kompany as Crystal Palace boss eyes Bayern Munich job

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner would love to manage Bayern Munich one day, despite recent links to the Man United job.

Oliver Glasner is becoming hot property after what’s been a very strong start to the new season for Crystal Palace, who currently sit in 6th place of the Premier League table.

That’s despite defeat in their last outing. Crystal Palace lost 2-1 against Everton as their club record 19-game unbeaten run came to an end on Merseyside.

Nonetheless, Glasner continues to be linked with a potential move away from Selhurst Park, with Man United being linked with Glasner in recent weeks.

Ruben Amorim is fighting for his job at Old Trafford after a poor start to the new season for the Portuguese boss and his misfiring Man United side, who sit in 10th place of the table right now.

Oliver Glasner’s dream job is Bayern Munich, he’s a big fan of Vincent Kompany

Amid ongoing links to Man United, a recent report has revealed that Glasner’s dream job is Bayern Munich. It is understood that Glasner’s long-term ambition is to manage the German giants but right now, Vincent Kompany is doing a steady job there.

Kompany has Bayern sitting in 1st place of the Bundesliga and looking like a force to be reckoned with in the Champions League too. And speaking at his unveiling as Crystal Palace manager back in 2024, Glasner actually spoke about Kompany who was in charge of Burnley at the time.

Glasner’s first game in charge of the Eagles was against Kompany’s Burnley. Glasner said in his first Crystal Palace press conference before that game: “Of course, the analysts showed us Burnley, what they want to do, how they play, and showed it in a great way. Vincent Kompany and Burnley did a great job last season. They were promoted to the Premier League and I have big respect for him as a person and as a manager.”

How much compensation Crystal Palace will get if Oliver Glasner leaves

Glasner’s Palace contract expires at the end of the season. Crystal Palace are working on a new deal for Glasner but don’t seem to be making any immediate headway on that front.

But Steve Parish is protected by a compensation fee for Glasner, albeit a fairly small one in the grand scheme of things, with reports that Crystal Palace would be owed £4m in compensation if Man United hired Glasner, or if any other domestic club poaches him.

For Bayern, though, Glasner would only come onto the radar if Kompany leaves, or suddenly starts to massively under-perform.

That said, Kompany is widely expected to replace Pep Guardiola at Man City one day and Pep leaving City might come a lot sooner than Kompany being sacked by Bayern, so that’s one for Palace to also keep an eye on.
