What Raine Group are now telling parties who are keen to buy John Textor’s 45% Crystal Palace stake

John Textor failed in his efforts to takeover Everton, which leaves him in an awkward position at Selhurst Park.

The 45 per cent shareholder in Crystal Palace made it clear he was keen to see the back of Steve Parish, looking instead to takeover Everton where he would have full control to utilise his multi-club model.

It was earlier in 2024 that John Textor revealed interest in completing a takeover of Everton, as the Toffees searched for a buyer of Farhad Moshiri’s stake.

These plans from the American tycoon were scuppered however as he first had to sell his stake in Crystal Palace, something which proved more difficult than anticipated.

However now with Dan Friedkin winning the race to takeover Everton, Textor is in a tricky situation with decisions to make.

What the Raine Group are now telling those interested in John Textor’s shares

Textor jumped into the process of selling his Crystal Palace shares with both feet, however, he did not receive the interest he was hoping for – rejecting one bid in the summer.

Now though, the chance of Textor taking over Everton is gone and he needs to make a decision over his future at the club.

We reported earlier this week that Textor is still looking to sell his 45% share in Crystal Palace, and now Mail Online has provided a further update.

It has been reported that Raine Group have been appointed to handle the proposed sale of Textor’s stake. The Group have told interested parties to give Textor time to reflect on his next move following his failure to acquire Everton.

Textor had hoped to fast-track the sale of his Crystal Palace shares in order to buy Everton, so now this is off the table he is uncertain about what he plans to do with his shares.

It is then added that Eagles sources have suggested Textor would actually be interested in buying the stakes of Josh Harris and David Blitzer. However, it has been explained that neither are currently open to selling.

Crystal Palace need to sort this situation out

The Eagles are suffering on the pitch this season, and behind-the-scenes uncertainty will be far from beneficial for Oliver Glasner.

After six Premier League fixtures this season so far, the Eagles are still without a win and while it would be lazy to attribute this directly to the chaos at board level – it will undoubtedly trickle down and affect the team.

This situation will not help as Glasner looks to steady the ship which currently sees Crystal Palace sitting 18th in the Premier League.

Therefore, there should be an emphasis placed on those involved to come to a conclusion either way as it will undoubtedly become a distraction for the Eagles on the pitch.

Hopefully, Textor’s time to reflect does not take long and we get some clarity before the season gets too far gone.
