Crystal Palace are set to make a managerial change, as Roy Hodgson is expected to step down from his role after a health scare this past week.
Oliver Glasner is the man arriving and he comes with extremely high expectations placed on him.
From his time at Frankfurt, one thing we are fairly confident that he’ll bring to Selhurst Park however is playing youngsters.
This is something Palace chiefs will be hopeful of, considering recent years have seen a real switch to recruiting talented youngsters.
Oliver Glasner could use the talented youngsters currently at Crystal Palace
Glasner is known to be willing to give the youth a chance, and this could be music to the ears of some of Palace’s most impressive youngsters.
The one who could benefit most is Naouirou Ahamada. The 21-year-old Frenchman used to play in the Bundesliga and therefore could become an instant Glasner favourite.
In midfield, Ahamada could also be joined by 18-year-old Palace academy graduate David Ozoh. The midfielder is another whom Palace supporters are desperate to see get a chance in the team after his displays in cameos this season.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is another who could benefit substantially from having a new boss who’s willing to trust the youth, while Matheus Franca will be in the same bracket.
With several of Palace’s best players due to be sold this summer – such as Michael Olise and Marc Guehi – there are places up for grabs if players can impress.
Which young players has Glasner managed before?
The biggest success story for a youngster under Glasner is undoubtedly Randall Kolo Muani who he helped Frankfurt pick up for free from Nantes in 2022.
In his one season for Frankfurt, Kolo Muani was ridiculously impressive as he scored 26 goals and assisted 17 (43G/A) in 50 appearances.
This form was enough to earn him a £77m move to PSG where he has had a solid first season without setting the world alight.
Palace will be hoping that Glasner can develop one of the youngsters in the ranks at Copers Cope in a similar manner.
