Forget Wan-Bissaka… Crystal Palace must ask Man United for ‘amazing’ £34m player if Olise departs

One thing which seems destined to happen this summer at Crystal Palace is the departure of Michael Olise as interest grows.

Throughout much of the 2023/24 season, Crystal Palace have seen star man Michael Olise linked with a departure from the club.

This is after Chelsea almost signed him last summer before the Frenchman signing a new deal at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United are who seem to be best placed to complete this signing of Olise, as Ineos view him as the perfect statement signing in their first transfer window.

In any deal for Olise, there’s a popular belief that United will look to include Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which Alex Crook has confirmed while speaking with MUFCMPB.

But this is a deal which Palace should avoid and instead should ask for 21-year-old Amad Diallo to be included in the deal.

Crystal Palace must try and get Amad Diallo in Michael Olise deal

Getting Wan-Bissaka is a deal which has gone down in appeal after the arrival of Daniel Munoz in January. This means Palace don’t really need a £90k-a-week right back.

But with United already clearly quite keen to include a player in the deal for Olise, they could be willing to instead offer a like-for-like replacement.

Amad would offer just that with the ‘amazing‘ winger in desperate need of a club that will value him after he’s struggled since returning from his loan to Sunderland.

The Ivorian winger cost United an initial £19m rising to £37m – according to The Athletic – back in 2021 and so far he’s barely had a chance at Old Trafford. This season he’s struggled from a long-term injury and since then has been mistreated by Erik ten Hag.

But Palace would be looking at his Championship stats as the motivation to bring him in. At Sunderland, he scored 14 goals and assisted three in 39 games during the 22/23 season.

Manchester United would probably be willing to let Amad go

Amad would be a really smart acquisition if he came included in the Olise deal as he’s a player with tremendous upside. That being said the question will really be, would United let Amad leave this summer?

Assuming they’re bringing Olise in, it’d be hard to see a reason they wouldn’t allow Amad to go as he quite clearly isn’t someone Ten Hag is keen on using.

Antony and Alejandro Garnacho are ahead of him in the pecking order at Old Trafford and adding Michael Olise to that list leaves little prospect of game time for Amad.

Therefore he could be the perfect signing, especially under the possible management of someone like Kieran McKenna, he could be a really exciting prospect.
