Crystal Palace may have been handed a major boost in their hopes of signing Chelsea starlet Carney Chukwuemeka this summer.

It comes as Oliver Glasner looks to add a few more names to his squad in the final week of the summer transfer window.

The Eagles have had a tough start to the Premier League season after a disruptive summer, which has been far from easy for the side.

Several Crystal Palace stars returned to pre-season late after taking part in international tournaments over the summer, coming as a potential blow to the side’s preparations.

On top of that, Michael Olise joined Bayern Munich, while rumours have persisted over the futures of Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze.

With plenty of key exits, the Crystal Palace boss is looking at some new additions who can bolster his options.

One of those is Carney Chukwuemeka, who has been linked with a transfer to Crystal Palace from Chelsea this summer.

Scott McTominay transfer could hand Crystal Palace boost for Carney Chukwuemeka

Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Manchester United star Scott McTominay, however, it appears unlikely he will make the switch to Selhurst Park.

That’s because according to The Athletic, Serie A side Napoli have agreed a €30million (£25.4million) deal for the Scottish international.

While it’s a move that may see Palace miss out on a transfer target, it could help them in their pursuit of Chukwuemeka.

Earlier in the window, BBC Sport reported that Napoli were also tracking the Chelsea starlet ahead of a potential transfer.

However, with McTominay now likely to feature for the Azzurri, a move for Chukwuemeka may now appear unlikely.

The 20-year-old versatile midfielder impressed last season at Stamford Bridge, but struggles with injury have seen him slip down the pecking order.

Carney Chukwuemeka transfer latest

While Chukwuemeka featured in pre-season for Chelsea, he was missing once again for his side when they played Wolves on Sunday.

The midfielder was absent from the matchday squad, suggesting he is firmly out of favour for new boss Enzo Maresca.

With new signings such as Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also vying for places in the same position, an exit is even more likely for Chukwuemeka.

However, with only a few days left in the transfer market, Crystal Palace may have to work quickly to get a deal over the line.
