Crystal Palace are hoping to strengthen the forward line in January after a poor season in front of goal under Oliver Glasner.

Despite improving recently, the Eagles still have just 14 goals in 15 Premier League games. This record has cost Crystal Palace.

Performances in the past few weeks have been much better with four games unbeaten, although three draws and one win have not seen Oliver Glasner’s side go rocketing up the league table.

In the three draws, Crystal Palace will feel that all four could have been turned into wins, with Dean Henderson ruing missed chances after Palace 2-2 Man City.

In order to solve this, attackers are the priority in January, with Glasner already making this demand clear along with asking for a wing-back.

Crystal Palace interested in Jhon Arias

Dougie Freedman is looking to impress in January, with Glasner frustrated by the slow business in the summer.

Already, talks are advancing for the signing of Millwall’s Romain Esse. Now, Palace are also said to be interested in adding another Colombian to the ranks.

According to Football Insider at least, which claims in a report on Wednesday, Jhon Arias is a player the Eagles are looking into signing.

Crystal Palace are reported to have an active interest in the 27-year-old Colombian who is currently starring in Brazil for Fluminense.

Arias would likely cost around £9m – which is the price Palace were reportedly due to pay in the summer when links first emerged.

Arias plays like Johan Bakayoko

Arias is a real talent and has been heralded as an “unsung hero” for Fluminense and Colombia.

The versatile attacker would become the third Colombian member of Glasner’s squad after Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma. If his two compatriots are anything to go by, Palace could be about to get another fan favourite.

In terms of the style of player Palace could expect, Arias is capable across the front line and has even been compared with PSV’s Johan Bakayoko who was an Eberechi Eze replacement option last summer

Being compared to Bakayoko is exciting as it tells us that Crystal Palace will be getting a talented and skilful winger who is a threat with the end product to harm defences.
