Oliver Glasner remains confident of turning his Crystal Palace side’s form around but has now been explaining that he wants transfer arrivals.
After how impressive Oliver Glasner’s Eagles were last season, this season was tipped to be a big success. Daichi Kamada’s target upon joining made this clear as he had the ambition of Crystal Palace securing European football.
A run of just one win in 11 league games for Crystal Palace has left the Eagles down in the depths of 18th position – although arguably this position is false considering the expected points tally of 15.70.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 18 | 11 | 1 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 15 | -7 | 7 |
So with Crystal Palace’s relegation chances rising, now Glasner is looking to strengthen his hand in January.
With a couple of weak points in his team, the Eagles manager has evaluated his squad and explained where he wants to see strengthened.
Oliver Glasner evaluates his squad
Speaking on Friday in his press conference pre-Aston Villa, Glasner revealed that his injury crisis was easing. However with the Eagles’ injury record this season, additions will still be needed.

Glasner has now been discussing the January transfer window, as he is quoted by News Shopper as outlining the two positions he wants strengthened.
“It’s not so difficult to analyse our squad. We have a lot of midfielders – Adam Wharton, Will Hughes, Jefferson Lerma and Cheick Doucoure,” Glasner began.
“It wouldn’t make sense to add a new central midfielder. It’s the same at the back with Chadi Riad and Chris Richards now coming back. We have Trevoh Chalobah, Maxence Lacroix and Marc Guehi. We have Nathaniel Clyne and Joel Ward who can play in this position – we have enough.”
After admitting he is happy with his midfield and centre-back options, Glasner admitted he is less happy about two positions.
“In our attack, especially with Matheus Franca, which is the most disappointing for himself, because he really worked hard on his rehab and was a very important player in our planning.
“But he hasn’t been available and that means we don’t have as many numbers. We have missed him for the whole start of the season, so it’s clear we want to add an attacking player.”
Glasner then added that wing-back also needs to see additions: “When we look at the left wing-back position, maybe we don’t have many left-footed wing-backs.”
These are the two positions the Eagles have been linked with improving and now Glasner has made it crystal clear for Dougie Freedman.

Glasner on the importance of Crystal Palace learning from summer mistakes
In the presser, Glasner also discussed some demands for the winter transfer window. One of which was that players are brought in early – a clear statement of his dissatisfaction over how the late summer transfer business was completed.
“The goal of all of us is that if we sign a player, we sign him on January 1 and he starts training with us. We play Chelsea on January 4 and then the 11th is the FA Cup. We hope we play in the EFL Cup semi-finals in January.
“The clear target for all of us is that if we sign a player, he will be here on January 1st. But there are more parties involved than Steve [Parish], Dougie and me.”
This is a clear message to the club that they must be far more efficient in the upcoming transfer window. But also exciting for fans to know that in a little over a month, there could be new signings being added.
