Crystal Palace have been handed a major boost in pursuit of a potential January transfer target, who could be the long-term replacement for Marc Guehi.

Crystal Palace know they’ll have to replace Marc Guehi at some point next year, either in January or in the summer when his contract at Selhurst Park expires.

And it looks as though Oliver Glasner has long been looking at replacements with Palace moving to sign Jaydee Canvot in the summer transfer window.

But the 19-year-old Frenchman is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Eagles and looks like more of a longer-term investment. Someone who could replace Guehi in the here and now though is Yann Bisseck.

Update on Yann Bisseck to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace tried to sign Bisseck from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window, seeing a £30m bid turned down. Inter want to keep the centre-back but a change in manager has pushed Bisseck out of contention, and now The Sun say he’s determined to leave the club in January.

Bisseck has been told by German head coach Julian Nagelsmann that he needs to be playing regularly in order to make next summer’s World Cup squad. This season though, Bisseck has played only once in the league for new Inter boss Christian Chivu.

The Sun add that Bisseck is ‘open to a move to Palace’ who could now land the 24-year-old for a cut price fee of £22million.

The latest on Marc Guehi’s Crystal Palace future

Guehi remains focused on the task at hand at Palace. He’s not making any inclination that he’s eager to leave the club, and We Are Palace understand that Guehi is ready to leave as a free agent next summer and is unlikely to sign a pre-contract agreement in January.

Bayern Munich are showing a keen interest in Guehi of late. The German giants have long been linked with the England man, along with both Real Madrid and Barcelona, and of course Liverpool who tried to sign Guehi on deadline day.

For Palace, and for Bisseck too, a January move for the Inter man could be good for all parties as Bisseck will have time to bed in at Palace ahead of Guehi leaving next summer, whilst also having the chance to put himself in contention for Germany at the World Cup.

Palace return to Premier League action against Bournemouth next weekend.
