Crystal Palace’s search for a new centre-back is heating up with the Eagles now linked with another Serie A player.
Recent reports have revealed that Yann Bisseck is open to joining Crystal Palace in January after the German international was linked with a move to Selhurst Park in the summer.
It comes amid Marc Guehi’s uncertain future at the club with teams across Europe lining up to sign the England player, who sees his current contract expire at the end of the season.
In fact, Inter Milan are now showing an interest in Guehi and so Palace have the potential for a January swap deal with Bisseck, who Inter value at £22million.
But it seems as though Oliver Glasner has now set his sights on another centre-half in Italy’s top flight.

Crystal Palace in the race to sign Mario Gila
An emerging report from CaughtOffside has revealed how Thomas Frank’s Spurs are seriously considering a move for Mario Gila at Lazio. The 25-year-old former Real Madrid man has shown since joining Lazio in 2022 and could now seal a move to England, with multiple clubs rumoured to be keen.
CaughtOffside write that Spurs are ‘are not alone’ in the race for Gila, crediting Crystal Palace with an interest, as well as Bournemouth, Brighton, and Everton.
No price tag is mentioned for Gila who remains under contract at Lazio until the summer of 2027. But it’s reported that the race to sign the Spaniard ‘is getting more intense’ ahead of the January transfer window with several Premier League teams in need of a new centre-back, including Palace.

Marc Guehi vs Mario Gila in 25/26 so far
Both players have featured regularly for their teams so far and both players have proved solid, with Palace boasting the Premier League’s third best defensive record this season whilst Lazio boast the fifth best.
Guehi has outshone Gila in multiple defensive statistics this season but he’s playing in a Palace team in much better form, with Lazio having had a rather poor start to the season sitting in 13th place of the Serie A table after six games.
| Stat (per game, league 25/26) | Gila | Guehi |
| Interceptions | 0.7 | 1.1 |
| Tackles | 1.5 | 2.1 |
| Dribbled past | 0.7 | 0.6 |
| Clearances | 3.2 | 5 |
| Blocked shots | 0.3 | 0 |
But the level of Premier League interest in Gila tells us all we need to know: he’s a player with huge potential and at a good age to come into the Premier League for the first time, and develop into a quality player.
Crystal Palace return to action against Bournemouth this weekend.
